Latest News
Thornton AFC lost their first pre-season friendly on Saturday 25 July to Thornton Hibs at Carleton Park. Up for grabs was the Robin Kinnear Shield which we resurrected after ten years in Laingys garage! A 25 yard strike from Ross Morgan in the 78th minute gave the Hibs a 1-0 victory in a keenly contested match.
Both teams wore black armbands and observed a minute's silence as a mark of respect to James McNab whose funeral was the day before. James was Thornton AFC's former manager and chairman and had played for the Eighties Thornton AFC side and also had a season with the Hibs in the early nineties

It is with great sadness to report that Thornton village legend James McNab died on Sunday 19th July 2009 after a year long battle with leukaemia. James was a stalwart of the club when we initially started up and took over the reigns as manager the day after his daughter was born in October 2004. He took us to promotion in our first season as well as the Division Cup Final which we lost in extra time. Due to family and work commitments he had to step down at the end of that season but continued within the club as chairman for a time.
There's only one Jose, a webpage within this site will be dedicated to him asap
